INTRODUCING 2009 PROJECT SHOWCASE DESIGNER

What is it all about?  Project Showcase Designer is the brainchild of $100,000 Opal Fashion Bash founder Henry Petersen. When he witnessed the amazing success of his Showcase Models Project launched less than 2 years ago today result  in the discovery & development of 12 international models he felt the timing was right to now create and launch Project Showcase Designer. He firmly believes this innovative & future rewarding project will assist many creative young designers whom have come through the Opal Fashion Bash to quickly make their mark in the fashion industry.

Its format is simple. A new Opal Fashion Bash Web link titled  “Designs 4 Sale” has been set up to promote some of the fashion designs they wish to promote or sell to the public. It will display 1 – 2 photo images of their designs & list their names & contact details. We believe this will give them a great opportunity to have their designs promoted on a very popular youth web site that is on target to record up to 20,000 web visitors in 2008.

Showcase Designer of the Year
Each time a showcase designer sells or receives an order for one of their designs from this web marketing promotion they will be awarded points and the designer who registers the most points leading up to the staging of the 2009 Opal Fashion Bash 16 -19 April will then be announced the 2009 Project Showcase Designer of the Year. * Proof of design sales orders will be required. The winner will be invited to showcase a collection of their designs in a special parade on Townsville World Models Day Out at the 2009 Opal Fashion Bash. They will also receive an award for their achievements. 

How will it benefit Designers? The most exciting & rewarding part of this project for these  young Showcase Designers is that will be to allow them to actually have their designs marketed & promoted professionally on a very popular youth fashion web site without having to initially be burdened with  the normal sometimes expensive types of “start up costs”. These include setting up web sites, office rental, advertising & promotion that usually deters many talented student designers from sometimes reaching their full potential or getting their designs quickly out into the market place.

The aim of Project Showcase Designer is to break down the time it usually takes for these student designers to establish their fashion design label name. It is hoped that via this web promotion & by showcasing their designs many of these very talented young student designers will become better recognised in the market place. Weather they are still presently studying fashion in high schools or tertiary design institutes it will have no bearing as to just how successful or popular their designs will be viewed on this popular web site.  Their fashion challenge will be to promote designs that will sell!

Who is eligible?  Any past Opal Fashion Bash design entrant aged 13 – 27 years can apply to become part of this Project Showcase Designer. They will be required to email on an attached word doco a brief Bio of their past fashion design achievements & future career aims in the fashion industry. To include 2 High Res colour digital photo images (1MB – 2MB in size) of the type of designs they wish to promote or sell. They also will need to list their name, postal, email address, contact phone numbers, Design Label or Web site (if any).   

What will it Cost? The only costs for designers involved are a minimal charge for graphic art work to post up or replace any digital photo images on this web link. There will be no sales commissions on any designs sold or future sales orders designers may receive via this web promotion. The idea of this innovate marketing concept is to quickly see 2009 Project Showcase Designer become a success in the market place. To also see some of our best young talented fashion designers quickly make their mark in the world of fashion.
